Thanksgiving is a holiday where we eat a lot of different kinds of food and where we say what we are thankful for. It is celebrated on the 4th Thursday of November. At my house, our older brother comes down from college and we can have dinner as family. It I a time to spend with your family and friends. For this weeks blog, I will be writing about what I am thankful for, So here is what I am thankful for. To begin with, I am thankful for a shelter I can call "home". I actually didn't have a house, (well of course I had a house), but not a house that we actually owned, until I was about 7 or 8 or some age around there. We moved around a lot, first we were living at a house in Hanamaulu then we moved to a house in Eleele until we finally rented a house in Kalaheo. At that time, my parents were building the house that I live in now that is in Puhi, which was okay I guess, but the fun part was getting to help paint and getting to pick which rooms we want. We also had some pretty good neighbors, and we still are friends, although we don't see them very often. But no matter where I lived or what house I was in, I could always call it my home. "Home Sweet Home" Another thing I am thankful for is family. They have always been there for me, through thick and thin. Although we may fight, it's alright because we will always make up at the end of the day. They support me in any thing I do and is very caring. My brother, as annoying as he is, helps me a lot since he is basically like Google. He helps me with my homework, if I don't understand something and when my computer gets all crazy. Besides being smart, he's also a very good board game player. The other day we were playing a card game, he beat me almost every time! Of course we got into a little argurment and the cards ended up ripped and in the trash can...but he's a really good playmate! Another person I am thankful for is my mother. She drives me everywhere, feeds me, cooks for me. She cares and loves me. Oh, and my older brother Austin. He just went up to college, which sucks because we always did things together--we drew, we watched movies and tv, and went bowling. But it's okay, because he will be able to cook me delicious food when he comes back. I am also thankful for my friends. They make me laugh and smile, and they make me red when I am feeling blue. And we hang out and they can make me laugh, a lot. They provide me with a bunch of support and honesty. I'm not going to specifically say who but I hope they know who they are and how grateful and thankful to have them as friends; because they are the best friends a person could ask for. AND A VERY BIG THANK YOU TO MR.M I'd like to thank whoever created the internet, because honestly, it's a really great invention. I'd also like to thank the guy who created the toilet, another great invention...because you know, without the toilet.... Okay! Well, that's about it for this blog. Have a save and thankful thanksgiving everyone!

For this weeks blog post, I will be writing about the CKTV Ohana. I had to think a lot about this topic as it was a bit more personal and I erased this introductory paragraph so I had to Rewrite the whole thing (which was frankly annoying), but after a lot of work and thinking here it goes. In my family, at my house, to be truthful, yes we do fight like most families do, but after a lot of fighting and trouble, we actually just forget what we were fighting about, it could be a really small thing, hey who knows! But at the end of the day, we will always make up and go back to loving each other. That's what I'd like to think of with the CKTV Ohana--except without the fighting. True, sometimes we may have arguments or fights, and it could be over just a small thing, but hey, that's family, and they will always make-up, because you can't stay mad at someone forever! We all know that Ohana means family, which is true, but her is what the CKTV family means to me. My definition of Ohana is to help people out and include everyone. When I got the letter in the mail, the letter that said I was accepted into the media class, I was really happy. I have no idea why, but I guess I was really excited that I would get to learn about media and how to work with different technology with and from some people who are the same age or grade as me and other peers that are older than me, who are experienced in this kinds of things. Well anyways, I went to that beginner camp in the summer. I remember walking in there and only recognizing 1 person who was from the same elementary school as me. And that was Nicole Matsushigie. However, we didn't really hang out at that time so I basically knew no one there, as a lot were either in 7th grade or from different schools. In one of the activities Mr. M said to pick a partner. I honestly did not know who to pick. I kind of just stood there awkwardly (ha), but then Justice asked me if I wanted to be partners. And that is what I thought was true CKTV Ohana. We were basically strangers, we knew nothing about each other, but yet she included me, helped me and showed me how to do certain things. To me, being in the media class isn't just another grade or it isn't just another class. I feel like we are apart of a team. We all have to cooperate as a team when we are working the morning announcements or to pick up after another person who may have accidently left some equipment out or even when we go up to Flordia to compete at STN. Same thing goes with you and your partner. Using We, us, and ours and not I or me. We all play an important part in the team, whether its with the morning announcements or helping others, because we are all apart of the CKTV team, we are all in this together, so if helping a classmate is helping the team, then I think that is what the CKTV Ohana is. Being apart of this team, the cktv ohana, means a lot to me. They have provided me with help, compliments, and friends. Although Mr. M is tough on us, it is only because he wants the best of our work. Well, now a couple months into the school year, I know a lot of people much better than from the camp or the potluck dinner. I also created some friends from different schools. From completely strangers to basically best friends, I would say a big improvement. I learned who my real friends were and stuck with them in this crazy adventure. And guess what? We are still in it...
Come join us :) Hello Everyone! Today I'm here to talk to you about "Skype". Skype is a free app available for Ios devices and for the computer/laptop. It allows you to have video calls or just voice calls with another Skype user, using Wi-Fi. It is also a "instant messaging system" where it allows Skype users to communicate via text. However, you can have more than just 2 people in a skype call, you can add more people from your contacts. Yes, Skype is similar to "Facetime", but--Skype has IM's and something called "Screen Sharing". Screen Sharing is when someone using the pc version of Skype shares what they are looking at on there screen with someone else either on the app on the mobile device or on another computer. I started using Skype not to long ago because my brother and his friends use it ALL THE TIME; so I decided to give it a go. So afterschool I use Skype to just talk with some friends (and yes, I really do have friends :P). Well, Bye!!
Hello Everyone!! So, last weekend or so, I went to the theater and watched a movie called, "Enders Game". Enders Game is a movie based on the book, "Enders Game". Enders Game is a movie about a boy named Ender Wiggin who is sent into outer-space where he trains to protect his family, and Earth from alien attacks. In the past, Earth suffered an attack from these same aliens, but--they didn't realize they only wanted water. Since then, they have a military camp, but to train kids and teens to attack the aliens if they ever return. Ender is very talented and smart. He moves on from rank to rank, title to title until the day he has to pass a test to become Admiral. The test was supposedly a Stimulation, where Ender and his friends from battle school are supposed to kill all of the aliens of that kind. But, instead of it being a stimulation, it was the real thing. Although Ender had been promoted to Admiral, he was not happy that he wiped out an entire species. To make up for that, he took a queen egg and is now traveling through outer space, trying to fulfill the promise he made to the queen, to find the egg a new planet. I thought it was cool because they had some pretty cool shots and some at unusual angles. The also used a bunch of special effects, like the holograms. That's all for now, byee!!
Hey Everyone! As the 2nd quarter began, so did our 2nd quarter media projects. For this weekly blog, we are supposed to write about how our 2nd quarter project is going. My partner and I were originally doing our project on how you need to pay to use the bathroom at a restaurant named "Lighthouse Bistro" at Kong Lung Village Shopping Center. However, the person we were scheduled to do a interview with said he had a very busy schedule and couldn't do one anymore, plus, the b-roll would have been a bit weird. So we moved on with our back-up plan. Our back-up plan was to do it on Styrofoam. Yeah, that sounded a bit boring. Let me rephrase that. So there are two organizations, "Kauai Surfrider Foundation" and "Zero Waste". They are planning on taking down Styrofoam take-out boxes and replacing it with biodegradable containers, just like how they banned plastic bags and replaced them as well. Well, anyways, my partner and I are behind. We have some interviews that we have scheduled next week, but the thing is, we both have different schedules!! Sometimes we would schedule an interview then have to cancel it or move it an hour earlier because I wasn't sure-sure that I was free then. Although we are behind on our interviews, I takes my partner and I very little time to transcribe because we transcribe at home as soon as we finish an interview. So far we have 2 interviews scheduled, and we are still scheduling times for interviews. New projects, more things we can improve on. Although we are behind, I believe we will catch up. But until then, Byee!
Hello Everyone!! On Saturday, we had our CKTV street fair. It didn't turn out as planned because it was.....well, wet. It poured rain and there was thunder and lightning! There was a huge lightning bolt that struck across the street. I worked games with my friend Nicole. We were in charge of the ring toss where you paid one ticket (or one dollar) and you get 5 rings to toss. If you get at least 2 rings on, you win a prize. Frankly, the game was hard to me. But only 3 different people played our game. Because of the thunder and the lightning and the bad weather, the food trucks had to shut down early, and the street fair also. I ate a fish kind of bento and we ate in the teacher work room. After that, we helped clean up, and I helped to clean up in the Cafeteria. Although the Street Fair wasn't a success, we still more fundraisers to go, and it sure was fun.
Hello! For this weeks blog, I will be writing about whether or not I think TV will still exist in 10 years. I watch TV often, like a lot. I normally watch shows like "Doctor Who", "Nikita", "Torchwood", "Sherlock", and stuff like that. To begin with, yes, I think TV will still be around in 10 years. Television will stick around in 10 years because of the long-lasting tv shows. Take "Doctor Who" for example, they will be having they're 50th year anniversary show in 11 days that will be playing on TV and in 3-D in Theaters!! TV will still be here in 10 years because it is advancing wih the new technology these days. For example, they have 3-D television now, and smart tv's that can search the internet and youtube or hulu plus! Television is something that will stick around. Although all of these new technology are here, some are compatible with tv's! With my tv, you can use your phone or ipad or even itouch and it will be as a keyboard for the television! Television will still be here in 10 years. With all these old long lasting tv shows, and new technology, how can it not!!
That's all for now. Byee!! :D Hello Everyone!!! As you know, I have switched from Edublogs to Weebly. I have switched because I found it easier to use and there is more features you can do with weebly that you can't do with edublogs. Here are some features that I thought were cool: The Button which is used for links. It allows you to pick a size, large or small and a color, either black or your theme color. You can add Titles! And, Add a "Read More Break"!!! Click Read More to finish reading!
Hello Everyone! (As you might have noticed, I have switched from Edublogs to Weebly!) Every year, CKTV takes a trip to compete at a convention for S.T.N., or the Student Television Network. Well this year, the media class will be taking a trip to Flordia. Well anyways, for this weeks blog, we are supposed to write about the STN competition we would like to be apart of. Some of these categories consist of anchor team, PSA, movie trailer, spot feature, commercial, and music video. As I am a new student to the media class, I had no idea of what these were, so I asked my partner. I had to think a lot about this because there are just so many to choose from. After thinking about it a lot, I came to a conclusion. I'd like to do either the Spot Feature or Movie Trailer. I'd to like to do the Spot Feature because I'd like to know about another person's life. It also seems like an cool category to begin with. I actually watched last year's team spot feature video, it was very interesting and I thought they did a good job. I think it would be a good experience for me to try it out. Another reason why I would like to do the Spot feature is because I like filming interviews and I like to be behind the camera. I'd like to learn more about filming and I want to improve my filming/camera skills. This is mostly because I can't act and I am very shy, well, for the most part. I'd like to do the Movie Trailer because I think of it as a 'fun' category. I've seen a bunch of movie trailers, in my 11 years of breathing and it tries and convinces you or pursade you to want to watch the movie when it comes out. Or a movie trailer is like a sneak peak or a preview of the movie. Some movies I couldn't care less about because the movie trailer didn't catch my eye or it wasn't exciting or interesting to me. But, then there are those others that make me impatient and excited for the movie! Some of them include voice overs, or music to set the mood and kind of guide the storyline. I want to learn how to do these kinds of stuff when editing. In conclusion, I would like to do either the Spot Feature or the Movie trailer is because I would like to improve my filming and camera skills and I would like to learn how to do cool things when editing. S.T.N. and the trip is a lot to think about.
