Hey Everyone! For this weeks reflective response, I will be talking to you about this really cool video I saw on YouTube, called "Dazzling Time-Lapse Reveals America's Great Spaces" and was posted by National Geographic. Based off of the title of the video, you can already tell that this video is a time-lapse. I don't know why, but I'm absolutely obsessed with time-lapses! Well this would be my favorite time-lapse video I have seen so far. The photographer is Shane Black, who quit his day job to create this video! Can you believe that this time-lapse video contained over 10,000 photos?! That's a lot! I wonder long that took to shoot that many shots! He must've had a lot of storage and a good lasting battery. The sky looked so amazing and 'out of this world'!...no pun intended ;) I also thought it looked so cool and interesting when the camera moved, like how you would see a shot moving if you were to use a slider. But at first I wondered how they took the photos while getting that 'motion' effect. It turns out, the photographer actually used a tripod called a tracking tripod which has a motor that rotates the camera as the earth rotates. Pretty cool, huh? And what especially made the video EVEN BETTER was the music! A few months back, we had a blog topic on how music affected the video itself. Well in this video, the music made it much better! The music set the tone and matched. Plus, it would be pretty boring if all we only watched photos; thus, no audio. You can watch the video by clicking here. You won't regret watching it! Thanks for reading, also make sure to read my constructed response, "The Final Update". Bye!!
Hey Everyone! For this week's reflective response, I will be writing yet again, another update on my fourth quarter project. So just a review, I am doing my fourth quarter project with Justice. We are doing a Music Video on the song "One Step At A Time" by Jordin Sparks. Our video consists of different scenarios where people are taking 'one step at a time' in certain tasks. In one scenario, there is a new girl at school who is shy, scared, and friendless. Slowly, the new girl tries to make friends, but she gets rejected by a group of kids, making her sad and hopeless. However, in the end, the girl is happy because she ends up making a friend. Justice and I actually filmed this scene last Thursday. The filming went successful. We had help from some kids from an after school program and they were extra's. We also got help from Taylynn and Javlynn and Justice's friend, Dallas. So we have them to thank for acting in our video. As I said before, the filming went successful. We were able to get some good shots and enough shots for our video, and the acting went great also. In another scenario, there is a girl shooting basketball hoops. The girl gets very frustrated when she misses a bunch of hoops, but in the end, she ends up getting a basketball in. Justice filmed this scene this past weekend, which also went successful. I've watched her shots and she got some pretty nice shots. The last scene is of a young boy attempting to ride a bicycle. At first, he is a little hesitant and shaky, and maybe falls down a couple of times, but in the end of the video, he ends up riding a bicycle successfully. Javlynn Was hea! So far, Justice and I filmed all of the scenes, but we still have to re-film the lip-syncing part and maybe the bicycle scene. We also have to get 3 more shots, of all of the actors walking. Filming ends today, According to the marked deadlines set in our planners, but despite the lip-sycning part and the 3 shots, we are pretty much up to date. And Justice has been editing as we go, and she's been doing a good job so I have her to thank. So right now, we are in the midst of editing, pretty much everything is laid out, just the parts we still have to film we need to put on the timeline, but that's pretty much it. That's it for my Reflective Response, Thank's for reading!
Hey Everyone! So as you all know, we have started our 4th quarter project and is in the midst of wrapping up filming. So I am doing a music video with Justice, on the song, "One Step At A Time" by Jordin Sparks. For more on the overall project, you can read my blog about it here. Anyways, At the moment, we have filmed about half of our video, and we are filming the other half over the weekend. So Justice took some equipment home, and so have I. We also started to edit some parts, mostly just the lip-syncing parts, however. That's about it. Thanks for reading! Make sure to check out my constructed response, about Checking out too early! Hey Everyone! So for this week's reflective response, I will be telling you about a very important life lesson I learned, to be optimistic. Lately, I've been surrounded by a lot of negativity in my life and found myself being a pessimist as well. If you don't know what a pessimist is, a pessimist is a person who looks at eveything in a negative way, a downer. And an optimist is the complete opposite, a person who thinks in a positive way, who's perspective thinks in a good way, rather than in a negative way. An metaphor you might be familiar with, "there is half of a glass of water. Do you see it as 'the glass is half full' or 'the glass is half empty'". If you see it as half full, then you think as an optimist, but if you see it as the glass is half empty, you think as a pessimist. So the important lesson I will tell you about today, is try to think as if the glass is half full, be optimistic. Being an optimistic is very important everywhere. If you go to class with a negative mind about the class, the class period may seem negative to you. However, if you keep an open mind, the class period may seem not as bad as you thought it would be. Being optimistic is especially important in our media productions class. As you all are aware of, in class we are watching our third quarter project PSA's; having a critique session. Instead of being pessimist, and not liking these critique sessions, you should be optimistic. Think positively, you shouldn't be hurt about what others say about your video, but instead, take it as advice and make from for improvement. That's it for this weeks reflective response! Thanks for reading! Make sure you read my constructed response, "Community Service" Bye!! Hey Everyone! So as you know, Fourth Quarter projects have rolled in and filming starts soon. So for this weeks, reflective response, I will be writing about my experience helping Taylynn and Javlynn with their Music Video filming on this past Tuesday and Wednesday. They were doing the song, "Falling For You" by Colbie Callait and wanted me to be a background actor, or an Extra in their Music Video. So I thought, why not? I mean, we are all apart of the CKTV Ohana and we should help out our classmates. So originally the filming was on Tuesday with Javlynn filming, with Dodger and Taylynn as the main actors, extra's Isabel, Saul, and Lily, Rachel, and Kysen (Taylynn's friends) and myself. Apparently there was a dancing scene, so the Extras had to slow dance (which I wasn't too excited about). But the problem was, most of the actors didn't know how to slow dance, so they had to spend time teaching them. However, that filming didn't work out as planned because of everyone's tight schedule, some people had to leave early because they had sports practice or other after school activities. Next time, I suggest maybe doing a filming on the weekend maybe or when everyone's day is free to avoid the problem. So Taylynn and Javlynn scheduled another filming on Wednesday, this time at KCC and not at the school. This time Brandon and Taylynn were main actors, along with Javlynn, Taylynn's friend, and I as background actors. And Ben Brady also came to help them which was very nice! Filming again was okay, and I hope Taylynn and Javlynn were able to get some good shots and enough shots for they're music video. That's it for my reflective response! Thanks for reading, Bye!! Hey Everyone! Fourth Quarter is finally here! The year has gone by so fast! So for this week's reflective response, I will be writing to you about what I will be doing for my Fourth Quarter project. In fourth quarter, Mr. M gives us the privilege of working with anyone we want, and doing any type of video for our project. Meaning, you could do a news feature story (like how we had to do in First and Second quarter), or you could do another P.S.A. (like in Third quarter), or you could do a Music Video, Movie Trailer, Short Film, Commercial, or a different choice of video you have in mind! I chose to do a Music Video, with Justice. In summer camp, Justice and I were partners along with Javlynn, so it will be fun to get to work with her again. We talked about some songs, and we finally decided to do it on the song, "One Step At A Time" by Jordin Sparks. The song is about what the song suggests, taking things one step at a time. So whether you are learning a new thing, the song tells you to take your time and slowly work your way up to achieve your goal. Even though, sometimes it may be hard and challenging, you just need to try and with enough effort, you will succeed. We started on the treatment and script and we will work on it over the weekend, and hopefully are able to show it to Mr. M before Wednesday. That's all for my blog, I'll post more updates a
Hey Guys!! For this weeks Reflective Response, I will be writing about our Pen Pal from Florida. I recently received an email from my Pen Pal, Brooke Barry. It's been really interesting communicating with her, and it's fun because we are in the same STN competition and also in the same grade level. It's also pretty interesting how we have different time zones (5 or 6 hours). But it's also pretty difficult communicating by text message because of this. I'm so excited to meet them when we go up in Florida! Byee!! Hey Guys! This week I'm working the morning announcements so I thought I might share it with you. Most Advisorys turn on their TV to watch the morning announcements where they see 2 leadership students giving the daily news. What most people don't see is past that, the people behind the cameras, the technical people. AKA the Media Productions Class! How this works is there are 4 Groups, I'm group 3, and everyone in your group gets assigned a job and you rotate jobs every week your group works. Here are the jobs: Director- A director tells everyone what to do, they direct. They tell the technical director when to switch, the titler when to fade on and fade off, the Sounds and Microphones to mute/unmute and the Camera persons to fix the cameras. In the beginning, they count down from 5 and point when it's live to notify the Floor Manager. And at the end of the week on Friday, they work the Advisory Game PowerPoint. Technical Director- The technical director controls the transitions. From DDR (Introduction) then to the announcers then back to DDR (Credits). The technical director also merges both screens, called a cross fade so that the camera People can fix the cameras. Titler- The titler creates all the titles for the week and day. The titler creates ending credits, who does what job. Besides the credits, the titler creates titles everyday your working. Changing the day (date, block), the Lunch, and the announcers name. During the live morning announcements, the titler fades pub titles at certain points when told to do so by the director. Sounds and Microphones- Sounds and microphones is the person who controls the audio. When to mute and gets control over how loud and how soft the sound is. Floor Manager- The floor manger is basically the 'director' of the announcers, they are the eyes. They point to an announcer when It's their turn to speak and help guest speakers. When your going live, the director counts down to the floor manager and they counts down to the announcers. Cameras- So what the camera people do is the adjust the cameras. Not only do they fix the cameras so that both announcers are perfectly alligned, but they are also in charge of turning the announcers scripts when they are done speaking that page. As you can see, not one person can run the morning announcements all by themselves. When working morning announcements, cooperation is key. Without your team members and the leadership students, we wouldn't be able to broadcast the news to the students and staff of Chieffess Kamakahelei Middle School. Heyy Guys!! So we all know the game Candy Crush, right? Well, yesterday I watched a cool video on YouTube by Ryan Higa. The video was a Fake movie trailer named "Candy Crush" and it is about these friends who are game addicts, from Fruit Ninja, Temple Run, Draw Something, and Angry Birds. These friends are obsessed with the games, they transfer into a whole different universe. They have to take on Richardson, aka Addiction, who imprisons them in the world. With the game almost over, no lives left, A surprise character joins the world. Mario. I think the reason I loved this fake movie trailer was because of the music. The music just made everything so suspenseful, so dramatic. The voice overs were fantastic also, I especially like the 2nd one. And of course, the special effects, and just the humor in the video. You can watch the video here: Hello Everyone! This blog will be about my third quarter project, my PSA on smoking. PSA stands for Public Service Announcement. For this project, the maximum duration of the video is 30 seconds, or 25 seconds for certain people ,if you are in a certain category. Anyways, we got to chose a topic and an idea to make a PSA about! PSA's usually are made to get an idea or a message to the audience, what do you want the viewers to learn? What do you want them to remember? Originally, my topic was on procrastination. We all know it, we all do it, or did it before, so I thought it would be a good topic because it's well known, it's familiar to a lot of people, and there are not many Procrastination PSA videos out there. When that failed, because of lack of good, unique, non-obvious, ideas, I changed my topic to smoking. The first idea I had, didn't really work, it was just hard to do and it wasn't really good. The next idea didn't work out either, because it involved a young kid to smoke. However, thanks to Mr.M, I finally settled on a decent, approved idea. I immediately started on my treatment and shot list. The idea for my PSA is that this guy named Robert likes this girl named Karly. Robert's friend named Mark talks him into smoking, to impress her; because they think it's cool and attractive. Robert agrees and pretends to smoke while Karly and her friend are walking by. While they walk away, Karly says something like "Eww....Smoking is SOOO disgusting." The video ends with them throwing the pack away, and then the message, "Smoking. It isn't cool". After revising my 1st draft, I was good to film, and was satisfied with my grades for my treatment and my shot list/script. I'm excited to here about your PSA ideas! I heard about some really good ones, talking to you guys in class, and I'm really interested to see how the final product of the video will turn out! Anyways, thanks for reading, and make sure you go and read my next blog, dem Spoilers.
