Hey Guys! I just came back from the second STN Practice so I thought I would start on this blog early, since I already know the topic. Honestly, I think we did better on the first practice, and didn't really do so well this time. Read on to find out why. When we arrived, we had our stuff all packed (because we packed on Friday) and we're ready to go. At 8:00, Mr.M gave a briefing on each category. Because we are the Movie Trailer team, we were given a title and are supposed to make a story out of it. The movie title we were given was " The Rewind Button". This time, we took the time and sat, thought and talked amongst ourselves, instead of just rushing to go. We had multiple ideas of what our "rewind button" would be. Out of the options of a remote rewind button, speech (for example, "I wish I could rewind and start again" then goes back in time), and an elevator shaft. The winning vote was for the elevator. The elevator button is like the rewind button. It starts from the floor you are on, ground floor, then going into the past, so you would go down. Although this time we actually sat and thought about the title; I think one of the reasons why our video didn't turn out as great is because we didn't really come up with a really good, strong idea. The title "The Rewind Button" was a difficult topic and we couldn't really think of anything that would fit. This title was a big challenge for our group. After some thinking, the first idea we had was a love story. Where a girl breaks up with this guy because he loses his temper. The girl then dates this other guy, and the first guy is jealous. In this version, the first guy goes into the elevator, going back in time so that he can fix his wrong doings and keeps his temper cool. However, that idea didn't really make sense, and people didn't want to hold other peoples hands. The next idea was where the girl cheats on the two guys, Ben M. and Micah, and they find out. In this one, the girl goes into the elevator to fix their mistakes. That idea didn't work either, and things got confusing. There was a mixture of conversation, something about revenge (but you wouldn't go back in time, when you can do that in the present), and just different opinions about the idea. Eventually, the romance idea fell apart, leaving everyone confused about what's going on with the idea and our story. We leaned on the pillars, hoping a good idea would spring from our brainstorms. Then the idea of Friendship came into place, leaving us 1 hour for us to sort out everything, film everything, record voice overs, and find music. The friendship idea was where a girl ignores this other girl, and is mean to all the people around her. The problem was, in the first shot, there was no audio. The audio was an important part in this scene because it introduces the fact that she's being mean to the other girl. Originally, when we filmed it, Ysabel said something noting that the girl was a loser. Because Ysabel has been mean to others, they ignore her and she becomes hated. She goes into an elevator, unaware that it brings her into the past, but it's for the better. She realizes she can fix her mistakes and restart. After getting everything filmed, we realized it was already 3:15 and our production time ended at 3:10; everyone else was already in the editing room! And we still didn't find music or record voice overs! Brooke and Taylynn helped Ysabel with the Voice overs, while Micah found music, and I put most of the equipment away with Taylynn. After the Voice Overs were done, we listened to the music Micah picked out and then Brooke and Micah headed to the editing room to start on the video. After we finished putting everything away, we waiting in the teachers lounge, because I was finished with my blogs, turned in my scripts, and I didn't have anything else to work on. After Brooke and Micah finished editing, we got to watch everyone's videos. Good Job Guys! The video didn't turn out as well as we all hoped, and Mr. M talked to us on things we should work on. First off, the audio. The audio was fine when we filmed it, and we played it back also. But I'm not sure why there was no audio in the first clips. Another thing he talked to us about was just the whole story and the idea. It was confusing, I admit, and the audience had to kind of think what the elevator resembles. Also, it didn't really show past, because we were all in the same clothes and if Ysabel were to go into the past, she would go to the first scene, right? Personally, I think we should have another STN Practice because I think we could improve, and do much better in the next couple of tries. Another thing our team could do next time is plan more. Plan, Plan, Plan. Even though we did sit down and talk about our ideas, I think we should think it through more, if the first idea doesn't work out, already have a backup idea, a backup plan; so that we don't waste time thinking, like how we got stuck this time. Another thing I learned is to PACK EXTRA STUFF! On Friday, I thought we didn't need a Vixia or a light bouncer, because we had the 60D, (which also had that dial for light adjustment) but actually during this practice we did. After this practice, I realized it wouldn't be easy, as it was the first round. I learned it was a challenge, and its a bumpy road to the end. I do want to schedule more practices, and I learned things this time that will help improve on the next practice. I hope that our team will do better next time, Good job to all the teams and to Brooke, Micah, Taylynn, Ysabel, and Ben M. as well. Thanks for reading. Byee!!

Heyy Guys!! So we all know the game Candy Crush, right? Well, yesterday I watched a cool video on YouTube by Ryan Higa. The video was a Fake movie trailer named "Candy Crush" and it is about these friends who are game addicts, from Fruit Ninja, Temple Run, Draw Something, and Angry Birds. These friends are obsessed with the games, they transfer into a whole different universe. They have to take on Richardson, aka Addiction, who imprisons them in the world. With the game almost over, no lives left, A surprise character joins the world. Mario. I think the reason I loved this fake movie trailer was because of the music. The music just made everything so suspenseful, so dramatic. The voice overs were fantastic also, I especially like the 2nd one. And of course, the special effects, and just the humor in the video. You can watch the video here: Hi Everyone. This blog will be a movie review on the movie, "Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters". I watched this movie only recently, although it came out a while ago. As you read on, you will read about what happened (the plot), my favorite part, my favorite character, and how I felt about movie. Warning: If you have not seen Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters, and are planning to, I suggest skipping this paragraph. NOTE: This is a really long paragraph, Sorry about that I think my favorite part of the movie was probably the end, where Talia comes to life. I love it how they made Percy do a voice over on how he wasn't sure about the prophecy, because now he isn't the only half-blood that is an ancestor of the Elder Gods. It makes me wonder, and excited for the next Percy Jackson movie to come out so that I can fill in that missing blank in my mind. Was she brought back for a reason? Will she destroy Olympus, forcing Percy to Save it? Or will they both save it as a team? Or not? I think it's excellent how they ended it with a cliff-hanger. I think my favorite Character in the movie is Tyson. I think he is my favorite because, he is so different compared to all the other kids at camp just because he is a Cyclops. He is considered an outcast. Though, All he wants is a brother. You can tell because he is always calling Percy "brother" and he even took a crossbow bolt for Percy! But he is so ashamed and embarrassed that he is a one-eyed Mythical Creature. He uses sunglasses to hide it and uses this spray to make him look normal. Annabeths grudge over Cyclops disappears and Tyson gets a brother, and friends, who think he's perfect just the way he is. Over all, I think it was a very interesting story and was an amazing movie. I think they had a lot of great actors and it just flowed all together. It had some shots from unusual angles, and pretty cool special effects. Here are some pictures from the movie: As you can see, Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters was an incredible movie and story in general, in my opinion. I'm excited to here what you guys have for your movie review blogs! Thanks for reading! Stay tunned for future blogs! Byee! :) Hello Everyone! This blog will be about my third quarter project, my PSA on smoking. PSA stands for Public Service Announcement. For this project, the maximum duration of the video is 30 seconds, or 25 seconds for certain people ,if you are in a certain category. Anyways, we got to chose a topic and an idea to make a PSA about! PSA's usually are made to get an idea or a message to the audience, what do you want the viewers to learn? What do you want them to remember? Originally, my topic was on procrastination. We all know it, we all do it, or did it before, so I thought it would be a good topic because it's well known, it's familiar to a lot of people, and there are not many Procrastination PSA videos out there. When that failed, because of lack of good, unique, non-obvious, ideas, I changed my topic to smoking. The first idea I had, didn't really work, it was just hard to do and it wasn't really good. The next idea didn't work out either, because it involved a young kid to smoke. However, thanks to Mr.M, I finally settled on a decent, approved idea. I immediately started on my treatment and shot list. The idea for my PSA is that this guy named Robert likes this girl named Karly. Robert's friend named Mark talks him into smoking, to impress her; because they think it's cool and attractive. Robert agrees and pretends to smoke while Karly and her friend are walking by. While they walk away, Karly says something like "Eww....Smoking is SOOO disgusting." The video ends with them throwing the pack away, and then the message, "Smoking. It isn't cool". After revising my 1st draft, I was good to film, and was satisfied with my grades for my treatment and my shot list/script. I'm excited to here about your PSA ideas! I heard about some really good ones, talking to you guys in class, and I'm really interested to see how the final product of the video will turn out! Anyways, thanks for reading, and make sure you go and read my next blog, dem Spoilers.
Heeey Guys! For this weeks reflective response, I will be writing about a video I saw on YouTube by "mysteryguitarman". It is a stopmotion, which means he has to wash his face often. They took 1218 photographs in 8 hours. It obviously took a lot of effort and a lot of time to get this video done. You can tell that he worked hard on this video. You'll also need an artist to paint. I think it was pretty cool how they used props, like the drawing board thingy (I don't know what it is called) and when they turned off the lights and used a flash light. Enough Spoilers! If you want to see the video, you can watch it at http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DWLbwKoY8uU (Sorry No Link) Byee! Hey Guys! This weeks required blog post is going to be on our very first STN Practice that occurred on Saturday. This practice was because the CKTV Media class will be going to Flordia to attend the 2014 STN (Student Television Network) Convention in March. I am in the movie trailer competition with Taylynn, Micah, Brooke, Ysabel, and Ben Murray. As you read on, you will read about my experience in the practice.
I think the team I was on cooperated well. Yes, we had a few bumps but I thought the final product turned out good! I got a taste at how the real competition would be like, and the amount of time given to complete it. Compared to the other teams, we have a lot of people in the movie trailer competition. I hope that all of us can get involved and we can all contribute to the video and/or the making of it. I can't wait for the next practice! Byee! Hey everyone!! I'd like to start this blog off by saying, Happy New Year!! And of course, A new Semester! 3rd Quarter has finally come around and the school year is coming to an end, well, almost. We all have our new individual projects to work on, our psa's and since it's a new year, and a new semester, this blog will be about my "New Semester's Resolutions". Here are 3 things I wish to improve on this semester. :) One of the things I really wish to work on and improve on is editing. For my 1st and 2nd quarter projects, I admit, the editing could use work. Some clips were out of order or repeated, and the lighting on one mans interview was different than the same guy in the next clip because we used color correction but did not change it on all clips of that guy. I would also like to just learn more about editing and how to edit on Final Cut Pro VII, using different tools, how to show time, for example a time lapse or a hyper lapse, or even how to make a clip slower, in slow motion. I believe there are a lot of things that you can do when you edit to make your video better or to help the person watching understand better or to show it so it would be more suitable to match your topic or the moral of the message/story. For example, as I was saying earlier, if you want to show time passing, you might want to show a clock, in fast forward, from the time started going until the end of the event. It shows that time has passed, and it make it kind of more interesting to watch then for someone to just say in a voice over or something, "we waited for a long time". It's just something that I think is an important skill, more so being in the media class, where you need to know how to edit to make your story make sense, to make it interesting, and to just make it the best you can. This semester, I want to inprove on my editing skills. Another thing I'd like to work on is meeting deadlines. 1st quarter and 2nd quarter turning in our projects were tough, and the amount of pressure put on to get it done on time, to meet the deadline. So one of my new semester resolution is to turn in a rough draft of the video early, so I would have time to make revisions and make the video better so I won't need to rush to finish it on the due date of the project. Besides just meeting deadlines, I want to follow the markers set, for example: make little notes on my planner: "Film today" or "start editing" so it just makes it easier in the process of creating a video. Deadlines are tough, they are hard to meet, but I think if you plan ahead of time and follow your markers, the little notes in your planner, then I think it won't be to pressuring and hard. This semester I want to think ahead to meet the deadlines easier. The last thing I feel I REALLY need to work on and really want to improve is the so called, "Radio Voice". I literally have the most boring, really, really boring voice in the universe. Being totally truthful and honest, I don't have an ethusiastic voice it's just plain words coming out of my mouth and another problem is I mumble. So I just want to work on it, and at least try to sound ethusiastic and cheerful because honestly, who wants to listen to a monotone mumbly voice on the radio? This semester, I want to have a clear, ethusiastic radio voice. As you can see, I have some things to work on this semester. In conclusion, that was my "New Semester Resolutions". This semester I will improve my editing skills, meet deadlines, and create a Radio Voice. See you guys next time! Byee! :) |
