Hey everyone! The end of a long day has finally came. We went to a lot of amazing places and learned a lot! We went to WKMG,Channel 6 and got to see all their equipment, how they broadcast a news segment, and we actually got to see them broadcast the live noon newscast. After that, we went to a Full Sail University, we got to familiarize with their beautiful campus. And lastly, we went to the NBA basketball game at the Amway center. Everyone got up at 7:30, but Ysabel and I set our alarms for 6:55 because yesterday we were the last one awake and it was pretty embarrassing. Because of this, we got a headstart, and I was practically done when everyone else was woken up. When everyone got ready and were ready to go, we ate breakfast. We had a selection of leftovers of spaghetti, some cereal, and some spam, rice, and fruit. Everyone finished eating so we headed out to WKMG. There was some passing time of Electronic billboards and shops, but we finally arrived to the Channel 6 News Station, WKMG. I learned A LOT there! When we first arrived, we took a look at their radio station van. There was some satellite dishes to send out microwaves (the wave, not the oven). We spent some time taking photos, but we didn't talk so much about the van. We finally got to go inside the building station. I was always so confused when I saw the weather man on the News, knowing that he is pointing to a green screen, but I always wondered...how does he know where he is pointing? I later found out that they have these tv monitor screens on all sides, so no matter where the 'talent' as they call it, they knew where to look and what they were pointing to. I also learned that the green screen camouflages anything the samec shade of green, to match the scenery. We did this activity where we stood in front of the green screen and the tour guide made us point to a city and say for example, "In Kissimmee today it's a really nice day to go outside and take a walk, partially cloudy...". Some people had that same color/shade of green, so when there was a graphic of Florida and the rain levels or something, when they went in the 'ocean' their shorts and bag turned blue and went they stood on Florida, it turned green. Another thing that was really cool was that the cameras were....wait for it......ROBOTIC! I found that really amazing. Now they don't need a camera man, because they can control the camera and adjust it all with some button controls! They also don't need a camera person like we do when we broadcast our morning announcements because their Teleprompter is controlled by the announcers/talent! The TelePrompTer is the thing that the announcers read their script off of. The woman was reading off of one, but the man, Tory, could Ad lib. They have this 'gas pedal' under the table they sit by. When they push it the text moves up, and you can control the speed of it by how hard or soft you push. There is also a black reverse button right beside the pedal, just in case you miss something and have to go back. The Teleprompter we use is the old fashioned, way. Where we have someone besides the camera and pulling off the pieces of paper, but how cool would it if we had a Teleprompter that they use! I that case, the announcers can't blame us anymore for not switching the papers on time ;). Besides the Teleprompter, the announcers or Talent also had a tv monitor below the teleprompter, so they can compromise if someone makes a mistake. For example, If the talent is talking about the Harry Potter Preview, but the graphic for weather comes on, either the talent needs to switch to weather, or someone needs to put on a graphic for the Harry Potter Preview. So you know how when we broadcast the morning announcements for our school there's enough jobs for everyone, right? Well at WKMG, they have more, but less. You are all pretty confused by now, but what I mean is that they don't need a technical director, and cameramen, and other jobs like that, but they also have different jobs that we don't need or do. They have coders, editors, and producers, and many more jobs; each person really busy. When we walked in there, there was Tv monitors everywhere, a bunch at desks'. This one person we visited had like 9 tv screens. I learned that you have to be extremely good at multitasking if you want a job there. They had like one person, answering emails, while answering phones, and watching out for breaking news and checking social media. It's really intense, but surprisingly they all seemed calm, and focused. Later that morning we got to see an actual live broadcast of the noon news show. Everyone seemed calm, they weren't stressed or frustrated at all. It seemed really odd, because during our practices while we are 3 minutes live, everyone's rushing and trying to make everything look okay. When our tour finished, we went to Full Sail University. I absolutely loved it. Their campus was beautiful and everything was really professional. Our tour guide was really nice and helpful. Her name is Victorica and she made the tour really fun. She did things that the other tour guide didn't do to the other group. They had a bunch of different categories; 3-D art, gaming design, art & design, music & recording, film and recording, and more areas of study. There was so many different equipment, there was even a piano with its own IP address! This meant that it can connect to wifi and the server from anywhere! They built their own sets, and even have a backlot with fake buildings! They film, edit and produce their own products, and get to use the fake buildings as scenery or as a set. There was even a hall of fame building! It is a place to inspire and just a place to hang out. The graduates even left behind memorables. I saw an oscar and many medals there! I even saw a script from Jaws! After leaving Full Sail University, we finally went to the NBA basketball game at Amway, it was the Orlando Magic versus the Washington Wizards. We all cheered and we're spotted on the monitor a bunch of times. Some of us got these balloons to cheer and boo. We all rooted for the Magics, us prior getting a tour. The Washington wizards won with the score of 105 and the magic unfortunately lost with 101. I need to go now, I might update this tomorrow. Byee!!
